XL Airways France is the new name of the Star Airlines, an airline founded in 1995. Acquired in February 2006 by the Avion Group, XL Airways France is 100% owned by the XL Leisure Group and its CEO is Lawrence MAGNIN.
In October 2006, XL Leisure Group has become an independent group of its former parent Icelandic, Avion Group. Its Chief Executive officer (CEO) is Phillip Wyatt. XL Leisure Group is a group of airlines, tour operators and companies marketing products XL. This group covers three continents and more than 100 destinations.
Dedicated to tourist traffic, XL Airways France operates charter flights on medium-haul destinations (Mediterranean) and long haul (Dominican Republic . . .) as well as flights on some long haul destinations (Mexico and Maldives).
The company’s fleet is composed exclusively of new-generation devices, all off the assembly line of Airbus Industries in Toulouse. The average age of aircraft used to date by XL Airways France is seven years.
