An alliance for all the right reasons
In 1997, five airlines worldwide have come together to create something new: an alliance pooling network shows, registration services and ticketing and dozens of other services to improve the experience of travel of their customers and their efficiency. They called their reunion the Star Alliance network.
In April 2008, the alliance has expanded to 20 members, with the arrival of Turkish Airlines, and 3 regional members. EgyptAir and Air India will be the next airlines to join the alliance.
An extensive network of carriers offering more choice to customers. Carriers of our alliance members travel to more destinations than our competitors. This translates into travel easier and faster connections. The main goal has always been to make the travel experience more enjoyable for customers. We therefore strive to install carriers near each other at airports to use new technologies, building common facilities at airports, to coordinate flight schedules and deploy teams to deal with passengers and baggage match. A host of other initiatives have been implemented and others are planned.
The brand - as well as its recognized logo in the shape of a star - is the commitment of the Star Alliance and signals to customers wherever they are in the world, that the alliance will help ensure a pleasant travel experience.
The Star Alliance network offers nearly 18,000 daily flights to 965 destinations in 162 countries.
