Air traffic throughout the world increases by 5% each year. The airports therefore face the growing challenge of managing the flow of passengers, which has become increasingly difficult due to the reinforced security constraints since September 11, 2001.
The constraints placed on the carry-on luggage of each passenger are an obstacle in managing the airport traffic. Nearly 20 points of inspection are to be carried out for the luggage in less than 2 hours before takeoff. Measurements for restrictions on liquids contained in hand held luggage also overwhelm the system and thus increase the time it takes to board the aircraft.
Due to the limited capabilities of the airports and to airport traffic congestion, mistakes in luggage routing have increased and created more passenger dissatisfaction.

Luggage service to the place of residence was the first step toward reducing the strain on the airports. It was a service intended for upscale customers and was offered at the time of purchasing an airline ticket or a hotel reservation with a travel agency. Then, door to door luggage service and service to the place of residence became increasingly popular throughout the world, even before the airline companies began to assume the responsibility for carry-on luggage.
Since the reinforced safety rules for luggage were implemented in 2006, the number of companies in the United States and the United Kingdom offering luggage service to the residence and door-to-door at reasonable prices has exploded.
