European Commission

The Commission is an institution politically independent of national governments, which represents and defends the interests of the EU. It drafts proposals for the new EU to be put before the European Parliament and the Council.

“Commission” has two meanings. First it means the team of men and women – One Member State of the Union – designated to manage the institution and take decisions. On the other hand, it refers to the institution itself and its staff.
