Created by His Majesty the Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie I on 30 December 1945, Ethiopian Airlines is the results of a joint venture created by the Ethiopian government and the American company Transworld Airlines (TWA).

Ethiopian Airlines, which is developing its services on a regular basis, is now a reliable company and appreciated by passengers. It has made the Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa (ADD), renovated in 2003, an airport hub between Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Sign of its leading position in the development of aviation in Africa: Ethiopian Airlines will be the first African airline to fly the new Boeing 787 dreamliner, after ordering 12 of the art equipment which it will take delivery in 2009.

The airline offers 3 weekly flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle in Addis Ababa, and on to nearly 30 destinations in Africa including Johannesburg, Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Brazzaville, Kinshasa. The company plans to increase frequencies from France before the end of 2008.

Accredited to certify the safety standard IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit), the Ethiopian company has the largest network in Africa.

Defined as a ‘company-class African, Ethiopian Airlines was named best African airline of the year 2006.
